Our Heritage

1936 : F&N bottles Coca-Cola in Singapore under franchise
In September 1883, the Singapore Straits Aerated Water Company was formed by John Fraser and David Neave. This later became Fraser and Neave Limited. Three years later in 1886, Coca-Cola was invented by Dr John Stith Pemberton in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fraser and Neave's association with The Coca-Cola Company goes back to 1936 when F&N's soft drink division produced and bottled Coca-Cola in Singapore under franchise. Within half a century, Coca-Cola became the most popular soft drink in Singapore.

1992: Joint Venture Signed
To cement the relationship between the two companies, a joint venture agreement was signed on May 11, 1992 to form F&N Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola Company owned 25% equity and participated in its management, and the remaining 75% belonged to F&N.

F&N Coca-Cola expanded rapidly into new markets around the region, including Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

In a reconstruction exercise in September 1998, F&N Coca-Cola created a subsidiary, F&N
Coca-Cola (Singapore) Pte Ltd to handle all aspects of business carried out in Tuas, Singapore. The purpose of this was to improve efficiency by focusing the management on developing the business in Singapore, and driving profitability in the beverage industry.

F&N Coca-Cola in the meantime, continued to handle the regional business and investment holding function.

1999: Coca-Cola buys bottling operations
In late July 1999, Fraser and Neave Limited sold their 75% of F&N Coca-Cola (Singapore) Pte Ltd to The Coca-Cola Company. Today, Coca-Cola Singapore Beverages Pte Ltd, a bottling operation which is fully owned by The Coca-Cola Company continues to serve the Singapore market by producing, selling and distributing a total beverage portfolio.

In addition to the world's most recognized brand Coca-Cola, the Coca-Cola business in Singapore also offers a total beverage portfolio including refreshment brands such as Sprite, Schweppes, A&W, zero-calorie beverages such as Coca-Cola light and Coke Zero, rejuvenating beverages Heaven and Earth tea, juice drinks like Qoo and Minute Maid which recharge the body, and replenishment beverages like Dasani drinking water.
